CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters Saturday after their vessel became disabled and ran around near Whale Creek, South Carolina.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received a call at 7:38 p.m. from a boater on a 17-foot center console stating they had become disabled due to an engine malfunction. Sector Charleston notified a local tow company who, after arriving on scene and discovering that the vessel had drifted into shallow water, determined they could not render assistance.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston rescued the three boaters at 10:22 p.m. and transported them to Myrtle Beach International Airport where EMS were waiting.
