Coast Guard rescues 3 adults and 1 child from sinking boat in Lake St. Clair

CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard assisted four people who were on a boat taking on water in Lake St. Clair, Saturday.

At 1:40 p.m., a search-and-rescue controller at Coast Guard Sector Detroit was contacted by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, in Mt. Clemens, Mich., who was forwarding a request for assistance for three adults and one child aboard a 23-foot boat that was taking on water in Lake St. Clair near the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station St. Clair Shores, Mich., launched aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small.

The rescue crew arrived on scene, took the four people aboard the RB-S, and towed the boat to the Island Harbor Marina in St. Clair Shores.

There were no reported injuries.
