Coast Guard Rescues 2 people in Houston Ship Channel

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard rescued a man and woman from a sinking boat in the Houston Ship Channel today.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a call for assistance at 7:14 p.m. from a boater approximately two miles south of Red Fish Island. The boater reported that his 30-foot sailboat was sinking.

The Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston boathouse dispatched a rescue boat crew to assist. When the rescue boat crew arrived on scene, they rescued the two people from the sinking boat. The boat crew waited on scene until a salvage boat arrived and then transferred the two people to the salvage boat.

The boaters were unharmed.
