Coast Guard rescues 2 in Port Mansfield

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard rescued two men in the Port Mansfield Channel near Port Mansfield, Texas, today.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a call for assistance from a 27-year-old man at 4 p.m. stating that his boat had capsized at 11 a.m. He further reported that his 50-year-old father was diabetic and they needed immediate assistance.

Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to rescue the men. The helicopter crew arrived on scene and found both men standing on their overturned boat. The crew hoisted the men through heavy wind and transported them to Valley Baptist in Harlingen, Texas.

No injuries were reported.
