Coast Guard rescues 2 in Lake Macatawa near Holland, MI

9th Coast Guard District NewsCLEVELAND — A rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Holland, Mich., rescued two people in Lake Macatawa, Thursday afternoon.

Rescued were a man and woman, both wearing life jackets.

While underway on a routine patrol aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small, the boatcrew saw the two people fall into the water after their 15-foot sailing vessel capsized at about 2:15 p.m.

The boatcrew was able to recover the two individuals, right the capsized vessel and tow it to Lake Ranch Marina. There were no reports of injuries.

The Coast Guard encourages all mariners to wear life jackets at all times when on the water, and to carry a communications device, such as a marine-band radio, while boating.
