Coast Guard rescues 2 from sinking boat off North Carolina coast

OREGON INLET, N.C.- The Coast Guard rescued two people out of the waters off Oregon Inlet, Saturday afternoon.

Watchstanders at Sector North Carolina received a report of a 21-foot boat sinking in the vicinity of Oregon Inlet and launched a rescue crew from Station Oregon Inlet.

At 1:48 p.m., the rescue crew arrived on scene, located and rescued the two people in the water clinging to a cooler.

Both persons were transported to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Coast Guard Station Elizabeth City, N.C. The two people are in good condition.
