Coast Guard rescue crews medevac man near Nantucket, Mass

BOSTON — Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuated a 48-year-old male off the fishing vessel Pontus, approximately 30 nautical miles east of Nantucket, Mass., after he was reported to be from suffering from chest pain March 2, 2013.

The Coast Guard Cutter Seneca was called by VHF radio by the Pontus at approximately 2 p.m. to assist.

A small-boat was launched from the Seneca with a boarding team and a corpsman on board to evaluate the man. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched a MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter and safely transferred the man from the fishing vessel. He was taken to Hyannis Airport for additional transport to Cape Cod Hospital for further evaluation.

His condition is unknown.
