Coast Guard rescue crews medevac man from Nantucket, Mass.

BOSTON — Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuated a 64 year-old-man with a heart condition at 4:01 a.m. Wednesday.

The man was safely taken from Nantucket Hospital by a Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod HH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter to Massachusetts General Hosptial in Boston.

“We picked him up, and took him to a different hospital to get better care,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Jacob Page, the operations unit controller at the 1st Coast Guard District in Boston.

He is listed in stable condition.

The Coast Guard provides search and rescue services as well as medical evacualtion support nationwide, and is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of search and rescue.
