Coast Guard recovers missing diver off North Carolina coast

5th Coast Guard District NewsWILMINGTON, N.C. — A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Elizabeth City recovered a 64-year-old female diver in the vicinity of Frying Pan Shoals off the North Carolina coast, Sunday at 5:25 p.m.

The diver was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The merchant vessel Dorthy Ann had contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 1:50 p.m., stating the diver had been 40 minutes overdue for resurfacing.

Also involved in the search was a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oak Island.
