Coast Guard Prepares to Fly FEMA supplies to Nevada for Flood Victims

ALAMEDA, Calf. -The Coast Guard will fly two C-130 transport planes filled with more than 22,000 MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) to Nevada this morning for victims of Saturday’s flood in Fernley, Nevada.

One C-130 arrived at Moffett Field in Mountain View Saturday afternoon to load the first pallets, and was to fly them to Nevada in the evening. However, weather in Nevada prohibited the delivery and the C-130 returned to Air Station Sacramento. The plane and crew are scheduled to depart this morning for Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada to deliver the supplies.

Also this morning, a second C-130 transport plane from Air Station Sacramento will arrive at Moffett Field to load additional supplies, then also fly to Naval Air Station Fallon.

In addition to the MREs, supplied by FEMA, six representatives from FEMA will also travel aboard a Coast Guard C-130 to the scene of Saturday’s flood.
