MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard continues to oversee salvage operations for two sunken vessels in the Mobile Ship Channel north of Gaillard Island, Wednesday.

Resolve Salvage & Fire, Inc., is conducting the salvage operations. Oil Recovery Company, Inc., is continuing cleanup operation of the remaining fuel and oil.

The Captain of the Port of Mobile has placed a one-way vessel traffic restriction for vessels with a draft less than 31 feet and a width less than 106 feet while transiting in the vicinity of Light 69. The Coast Guard is urging mariners to transit the area with extreme caution.

Responders have reportedly deployed 500 feet of containment boom.

A Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island small boat crew safely transferred the crewmembers of both sunken vessels from the Miss Sammy Lee to the Dog River Marina.
