Warrenton, Ore. — Coast Guard Sector Columbia River, Clatsop County, Astoria, Gearhart, Seaside, Warrenton, Lewis and Clark, Ore., and Ilwaco, Wash., Fire and Rescue Departments responded to a fire at Pacific Coast Seafood Company in Warrenton, Tuesday.
Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report at approximately 10:30 a.m. that a fire had broken out at the facility on the Skipanon River.
Sector Columbia River launched a 25-foot response boat crew and a 52-foot motor lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment and closed the Skipanon River. The 25-foot response boat crew maintained a safety zone in the vicinity of the fire and enforced the river closure. The 52-foot motor lifeboat crew helped fight the fire from the water.
Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s Incident Management Division is currently working to determine any pollution threats posed by the fire and will work to mitigate potential impact on the Skipanon River.
Firefighters extinguished the fire at approximately 5:50 p.m. and the Coast Guard has re-opened the Skipanon River.
