Coast Guard opens Global Maritime Information Sharing Symposium

BALTIMORE – Coast Guard Vice Admiral Sally Brice-O’Hara gave the opening remarks for the 3rd Annual Global Maritime Information Sharing Symposium held in Baltimore, Tuesday.

The symposium is held annually by the National Maritime Domain Awareness Coordination Office to connect the maritime industry and government in order to increase information sharing partnerships.

Over the next three days, the symposium will include several speeches, speaking panels and opportunities for the 250 registered attendees to participate in discussions and working groups. During this time, the participants will voice concerns, learn from one another and collaborate on a global system of maritime information.

“This is the only national maritime domain awareness forum in which industry speaks directly to government,” said Navy Capt. David Sanders, a member from the National Maritime Domain Awareness Coordination Office. “It’s an outstanding opportunity to work together to chart the course for MDA.”
