Coast Guard, multi-agency search saves oyster fisherman near Cocodrie

A United States Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopterNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has rescued a missing oyster fisherman in the Cocodrie, La., region, Saturday.

The man is reportedly uninjured.

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter rescue crew spotted the missing boat and the man walking in an area of marsh during search efforts at 1:41 p.m., Saturday.

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer was lowered from the helicopter and the crew hoisted the man from the marsh, where he had been since Sunday.

The Coast Guard rescue crew took the man to Houma Airport, where he was greeted by first responders and EMS.

Also involved in the search was the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
