ARCATA, Calif. – Several Coast Guard men and women stationed in the Humboldt Bay Area spent time with veterans at Mad River Hospital’s Adult Day Care today program to celebrate Veteran’s Day.

Coast Guard service members from Coast Guard Group/Air Station Humboldt Bay, Station Humboldt Bay, and Aids to Navigation Team Humboldt Bay honored the service of eight local World War II veterans. They presented each veteran with a flag and spent lunch listening to stories.

“I was honored to spend time with these men and women, plus it was a lot of fun to hear their stories,” said Seaman Erika Lindquist. “It was interesting seeing the similarities and differences in what they went through and what we do everyday.”
