Coast Guard medically evacuates woman from Cruise ship 95-miles off Florida coast

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 69 year-old woman from the cruise ship Carnival Pride Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville search-and-rescue coordinators received a call from Carnival Pride crewmembers at 10:14 p.m. Friday requesting a 69 year-old woman be medevaced. The Carnival Pride was approximately 95-miles east of Ponce de Leon Inlet, Fla.

The Coast Guard responded by launching an HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla. The helicopter crew arrived on scene and safely hoisted the woman at about 12:50 a.m., and transferred her to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Fla.

The Carnival Pride was en route to Baltimore, Md.
