Coast Guard medically evacuates woman from Catalina Island

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 34-year-old woman from Catalina Island early Monday.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., Los Angeles Medical Alert Center notified Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders of the woman who fell ill and requested a MEDEVAC for a higher level of medical care. After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, watchstanders launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to transport the woman.

The MH-65 arrived on-scene and transported the woman to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where she was last reported in stable condition.
