Coast Guard medically evacuates jelly fish victim

MIAMI — Crewmembers with Coast Guard Station Key West, Fla., medically evacuated a 26-year-old female from Sweden who was stung by a jelly fish south of Key West Wednesday night.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a report of a 26-year-old female who was experiencing nausea and paralysis after being stung by a jelly fish while swimming. The female was with the chartered vessel Sebago Cubed during a trip to Key West.

Sector Key West issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and diverted a nearby boatcrew from Station Key West to respond to the report. The boat crew arrived on scene and transferred the female ashore to awaiting emergency medical services.
