Coast Guard medically evacuates crewman from freighter Clipper Tenacious
CHARLESTON, S.C. – A U.S. Coast Guard Station Charlestom boatcrew medically evacuated a 42-year-old Russian citizen aboard the freighter Clipper Tenacious in the Charleston Harbor after he started to experience abdominal pains, Tuesday.
The Clipper Tenacious shipping agent alerted Coast Guard Sector Charleston at 1:37 p.m., Tuesday of the 42-year-old’s condition and that the vessel would be heading towards the Charleston Harbor.
After consulting a Coast Guard flight surgeon, a medical evacuation was determined necessary. A boatcrew from Station Charleston launched aboard a 41-foot Utility Boat and met the Clipper Tenacious in the harbor at 4:27 p.m.
Coast Guardsmen safely transferred the man aboard the UTB. The boat crew then took him ashore to awaiting emergency medical technicians.
