SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 54-year-old woman from a passenger vessel approximately 50 miles west of Oceanside Harbor in San Diego, Friday.
At approximately 10 a.m., Friday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a request for assistance from the crew of the passenger vessel Pacific Star that a 54-year-old female passenger was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms.
The 11th Coast Guard District’s flight surgeon in Alameda recommended that the patient be medically evacuated and taken to a hospital for emergency care.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Sector San Diego diverted from a routine patrol, arrived on scene and safely hoisted the woman at 11 a.m.
The Jayhawk crew returned to Sector San Diego at approximately noon, where she was transferred to awaiting EMS.
She was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.
