Coast Guard medevacs seizure victim off a barge in the Gulf of Mexico

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 36 year-old man who was reportedly suffering from a seizure aboard a barge 90-miles south of New Orleans, early this morning.

The Coast Guard received a call from a crewmember aboard the vessel, Iso Pipeliner, at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, reporting a crewmember on the barge was injured after he experienced a seizure while cooking. Medical personnel aboard attended to the man and reported him conscious and in stable condition with serious injuries to his face.

Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to the scene, safely hoisted the man and transported him to Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, La..

His condition is unknown.
