Coast Guard Medevacs Oil Rig Crewman

 NEW ORLEANS- The Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year old male from an oil rig approximately 70 miles south of New Orleans late yesterday evening.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 7 p.m., reporting that a crewman working on West Delta Rig 106 had become ill. The man was reported to be suffering from heat stroke.

Air Station New Orleans launched a rescue helicopter crew to pick up the man and transported him safely to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero.

Rescued was Shawn Campbell of Louisiana.
