Coast Guard medevacs man south of Point Loma

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 40-year-old man approximately 70 miles south of Point Loma, Saturday.

At approximately 6 a.m. Saturday, the crew of the 68-foot charter fishing boat Tribute contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego’s Joint Harbor Operations Center to report a passenger was experiencing low blood pressure and other symptoms after falling overboard, and were requesting assistance.

A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was immediately launched to medically evacuate the man.

The Jayhawk crew arrived on scene, safely hoisted hoisted the man and his son, and returned to Sector San Diego at approximately 9 a.m. Emergency medical services then transported them to UC San Diego Medical Center, in Hillcrest.

His condition is unknown
