Coast Guard medevacs man near Southwest Pass, Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man near Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Sunday.

The Coast Guard’s Eighth District received a report at approximately 6:30 p.m. from the motor vessel Elixer that a 29-year-old Pilipino crewmember was experiencing severe abdominal pain approximately 270 nautical miles from Southwest Pass.

The Elixer crew transited closer to Southwest pass where a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew met the vessel and hoisted the patient.

The aircrew landed at PHI Boothville, Louisiana to refuel and was met by emergency medical services.

The patient was transported the patient to West Jefferson Medical Center.

The patient was reported to be in stable condition.
