Coast Guard medevacs man near Port Aransas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Coast Guard medevaced a man after his boat ran aground on the jetties off Port Aransas, Texas, last night.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Station Port Aransas received a mayday call at 9:02 p.m. from a person onboard the recreational boat, stating that a man had been thrown from the boat and was in need of immediate medical attention.

Station Port Aransas launched a rescue boat crew to assist. The rescue boat crew arrived and safely transported the man back to the station, where a Life Flight helicopter was waiting.

He was then transported to the Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.

His condition is unknown at this time.
