At approximately 9 p.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call from crewmembers aboard the 48-foot fishing vessel Mollie D stating that they had a 56 year-old male suffering from severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
A MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City was dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 12:30 a.m.
The man was hoisted and transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C.
