Coast Guard medevacs man from sailboat near Oregon Inlet, NC

OREGON INLET, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man off of a sailboat Wednesday 20 miles east of Oregon Inlet.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a report at approximately 6 a.m. that a passenger aboard a 42-foot sailboat with four people aboard had fallen and was reporting severe chest pains.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew launched from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched at approximately 7 a.m. and arrived on scene at approximately 7:40 a.m.

The boat crew medevaced the man back to Station Oregon Inlet where he was transferred to awaiting EMS personnel. He was then taken to Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head.
