Coast Guard medevacs man after aircraft crashes

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a downed aircraft in Hammond, La., Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 4:00 p.m., from the Tangipahoa Sherrif’s Department that an amphibious aircraft crashed in the Joyce Wildlife Area in Hammond, La., and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH65-C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to assist. The crew hoisted the man and transported him to Acadian emergency medical services personnel at the Hammond Airport.

The man’s condition is unknown.
