Coast Guard medevacs man 10 miles south of South Padre Island

HOUSTON —The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a cargo tanker 10 miles south of South Padre Island, Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Sector Corpus Christi received a report at approximately 12 a.m. that a 40-year-old male aboard the motor tanker Ballad was experiencing extreme abdominal pain .

A Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew were launched at approximately 6:47 a.m. The crew successfully hoisted the man off the Ballad and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.

The crew member’s condition is unknown.
