Coast Guard Medevacs Injured Mariner

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., air crew responded to a mariner suffering from chest pain 37 miles off the coast of North Carolina today.

An HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City hoisted a 58 year-old man from the 100-foot charter vessel Continental Shelf approximately 37 miles South of Beaufort Inlet, N.C., at about 12:45 p.m.

The flight crew medevaced the sick boater to Carteret County General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C., where medical personnel were standing by. A 47-foot motor lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Ft. Macon, N.C., also responded to the case.
