Coast Guard medevacs injured man from boat

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 40-year-old man from a boat 20 miles south of South Lafourche Airport in Galliano, Louisiana, Monday.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 12:22 p.m. about and injured boater and proceeded to launch an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew.

The aircrew located the boat at 1:42 p.m. and deployed a rescue swimmer who assisted the injured boater, Scott Russ, into being hoisted into the helicopter.

Russ was taken to University Medical Center New Orleans for further medical assistance.
