Coast Guard medevacs injured male near Vermilion Bay

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man aboard a fishing vessel near Vermilion Bay, Louisiana, Thursday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a notification at 7:50 a.m. of a crewmember aboard a 67-foot shrimper who had sustained a hand injury.

Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 8:28 a.m.

The aircrew arrived on scene at 9:26 a.m. and transported the survivor to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at 10:34 a.m.

He was reported in stable condition.
