Coast Guard medevacs fisherman 46 miles southeast of Nantucket

BOSTON-The Coast Guard medically evacuated a fisherman approximately 46 miles southeast of Nantucket, Mass. Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard First District were notified at approximately 9:42 a.m. from the fishing vessel Kathryn Marie reporting that a 56-year-old crewmember had complained of intestinal bleeding.

A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., rescue helicopter launched and safely hoisted the fisherman.

He was transported to Barnstable Airport in Barnstable, Mass., to awaiting medical personnel. He was then transferred to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
