Coast Guard Medevacs Crewman in Gulf of Mexico

NEW ORLEANS- The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old man from a vessel approximately 140-miles southwest of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico, this afternoon.
A watchstander at Air Station New Orleans received a call at 1 p.m., from the vessel’s captain, reporting that a crewman aboard the seagoing tug Elsbeth III was exhibiting stroke-like symptoms.
Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to assist. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted and then transported the crewman to Lafayette General Hospital.
The crewman is in stable condition.
