Coast Guard medevacs ailing woman from cruise ship Carnival Imagination

SAN DIEGO — A U.S. Coast Guard aircrew medically evacuated a woman from a cruise ship approximately 30 miles off the coast of Point Loma, Wednesday.

The crew of the Carnival Imagination contacted the Joint Harbor Operation Center at 5:25 p.m., requesting a medevac for the 41-year-old American woman after she began experiencing abdominal pain.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Coast Guard Sector San Diego, met the ship and completed the hoist by 7:34 p.m.

The crew transported the woman to Sector San Diego, where she was transferred to emergency medical personnel for further care at 8 p.m.
