Coast Guard medevacs 27-year-old woman from cruise ship Enchantment of the Seas

5th Coast Guard District NewsPORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 27-year-old woman off a cruise ship approximately 23 miles east of Hatteras, N.C., in the Atlantic Ocean Friday.

The doctor aboard the cruise ship Enchantment of the Seas contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at 1:05 p.m. stating there was a woman aboard with severe abdominal pain.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., to perform the medevac.

The helicopter crew took the woman aboard at 3:03 p.m. and transferred her to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C.
