Coast Guard medevaced man off tugboat in Southwest Pass

NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 29-year-old-man Friday off a towboat in the Southwest Pass at the mouth of the Mississippi River suffering from severe abdominal pains.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from the master of the tugboat Heide Moran, at approximately 6 a.m. stating that one of the crewmembers aboard the tugboat was experiencing severe abdominal pains and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C rescue helicopter to the scene to assist, safely hoisted the man into the helicopter and transported him to West Jefferson Hospital.

His condition is unknown.
