Coast Guard, local authorities searching for missing boater from Essex

BOSTON — The Coast Guard and local authorities are searching for 61-year-old Ted Gulvemond Thursday after he went out on his 21-foot Donzi boat off Essex Bay.

His wife called Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders at about 11 p.m. Wednesday reporting her husband left the dock at about 7 p.m. usually spends an hour on the water but hasn’t returned yet.

Two 29- foot response boat crews from Coast Guard Stations Merrimack River and Gloucester, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Essex Harbormaster, Ipswich fire department and Harbormaster, and Gloucester Harbormaster arrived on scene and have searched throughout the night.

The 127 sq. mile search is being conducted around Annisquam river, Plum Island Sound, Essex Bay, Ipswich Bay and offshore from Cape Ann.
