PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard, Delaware County Fire and Rescue and the Chester, Pa., Police Department are searching for a 21-year old male near Marcus Hook, Pa., after the 15-foot boat he was aboard capsized in the Delaware River Friday.
Names are being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
The Coast Guard received a call at 3:30 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the tug boat Timothy Mcallister reporting a submerged 15-foot boat. Members of Delaware Environmental reported they spoke with a man who stated he was on the boat that capsized and his friend is missing.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia, members of the Delaware County Fire and Rescue and the Chester Police Department arrived on scene and are searching for the 21-year-old.
The reporting source was taken to the hospital in Chester by members of the Landsdown, Pa., Police Department.
The missing 21-year-old was reported to not be wearing a life jacket.
