The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water near St. Louis, September 23, 2017. Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River received a report from the motor vessel Ms. Shelia that they located a 20-foot red aluminum canoe adrift and unmanned near Merchant’s Bridge at mile marker 183.2 on the Upper Mississippi River. NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water near St. Louis, Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River received a report from the motor vessel Ms. Shelia that they located a 20-foot red aluminum canoe adrift and unmanned near Merchant’s Bridge at mile marker 183.2 on the Upper Mississippi River.

Sector Upper Mississippi River issued an urgent marine information broadcast and confirmed with nearby counties that there is no report of distress or missing person or vessels.

The St. Louis Metro Police launched a helicopter and Sector Upper Mississippi River launched a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew to search the area for any signs of distress.
