Coast Guard, local agencies search for 2 in San Luis Pass

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for an adult and a 10-year-old child that were reported missing in San Luis Pass, Sunday.

Missing are a 48-year-old male from Missouri City and his 10-year-old son.

The family of the missing individuals called the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office reporting that while swimming in San Luis Pass the 10-year-old child had called for help. When the father of the child ran into the water to assist the family reported losing sight of both the father and the child.

Coast Guard crewmembers are currently searching aboard an MH-65D Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Houston and a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Coast Guard Station Freeport.

Also searching are:

  • Galveston Island Beach Patrol
  • Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office
  • Gulf Coast Rescue Squad
  • Jamaica Beach Fire Department
  • Coast Guard Auxiliary
  • And numerous good Samaritans in the area

“We have jet skis, a Coast Guard small boat and helicopter and good Samaritans searching along the shore and all over the San Luis Pass area,” said Zack Edwards, a watchstander with Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston.
