Coast Guard Investigating Ferry Grounding

NEW YORK – Coast Guard investigators from Sector New York are investigating the grounding of a passenger vessel carrying 80 people near the Charles Point Yacht Club in Peekskill, N.Y. around 4 p.m.today.

The Tahiti Queen, a 50-foot passenger vessel, was returning from a Mother’s Day cruise when it ran aground 15 feet from the Charles Point Yacht Club. No injuries were reported.

The Captain immediately contacted Sea Tow, who once on scene safely transported the passengers to the pier using two boats. Once the passengers were safely removed, Sea Tow was able to free the grounded vessel.

The Tahiti Queen is currently moored at the pier at Charles Point Yacht Club.

Coast Guard investigators are investigating the cause of the grounding.
