Coast Guard initiates search after capsized panga found

11th Coast Guard District NewsSAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard has launched a search for possible missing persons after a capsized panga was found near Bluff Cove in Palos Verdes, Calif., Aug. 9, 2011.

Baywatch Cabrillo and the Palos Verdes Police Department notified Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders at about 6:56 a.m., reporting the capsized vessel. Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopters and Station Los Angeles-Long Beach launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium to search the waters.

Also involved in the search efforts are the U.S. Border Patrol, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Palos Verdes Police Department, and Baywatch Cabrillo.
