Coast Guard, Ocean Harbor Police search for missing person off Oceanside after dog found

SAN DIEGO — The U.S. Coast Guard and Oceanside Harbor police are searching for a missing man after he failed to return home from boating and his dog was found on the beach near a jetty in Oceanside, Monday.

Along with Oceanside Harbor Police, a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and the Coast Guard Cutter Edisto have been dispatched to search for the missing man and his 21-foot white striper fishing boat, Lucky Dog.

A beachgoer found the dog north of Oceanside Pier with no owner and called the owner’s number listed on the dog’s collar.

The wife of the missing man received the call and notified the Oceanside Harbor Police around 5:30 p.m., that her husband was missing.
The harbor police requested Coast Guard assistance with the search just after 8 p.m., and Coast Guard crews were dispatched to search for the missing man.
