Coast Guard Evacuates 2 From Mackinac Island

ST. IGNACE, Mich. — The Coast Guard medically evacuated two men from Mackinac Island today at approximately 10:30 p.m. yesterday.

A Coast Guard Station St. Ignace crew launched a 47-foot motor life boat to assist the two men. The first victim was a 68-year-old male who was suffering from heart problems, and the second victim was a 48-year-old male who suffered a head injury after he fell from a horse-drawn carriage.

Both men were taken from Mackinac Island Emergency Medical Services to St. Ignace and were transferred to awaiting EMS at the Coast Guard station.
