Coast Guard crews assist 4 near Parkers Creek, Md.

PARKERS CREEK, Md. – The Coast Guard assisted four people aboard a 45-foot boat Saturday after reporting their boat was disabled, adrift and one person was diabetic near Parkers Creek.

Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., received a call from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore at 2:47 a.m. stating that the boat was in shallow water and could not be reached by a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oxford, Md.

A helicopter rescue crew arrived on scene and lowered glucose, blankets and radios down to the people while they awaited rescue from local authorities.

All four people were rescued by members of Calvert County, Md., fire and rescue and transferred to emergency medical personnel for evaluation.

Sea Tow is awaiting instructions from the owner of the boat for salvage instructions.
