Coast Guard crew rescues 3 near Port Mahon, Del.

PORT MAHON, Del. – The Coast Guard rescued three people from the water three miles east of Port Mahon after their 21-foot boat was taking on water Sunday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 4:30 p.m. from a member of the Little Creek Fire and Rescue in Delaware reporting the boat was overturned, the people were in the water and they were on their way to the scene.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Fortescue, N.J., arrived on scene and pulled all three people from the water and transferred them to Little Creek Fire and Rescue where they were examined by emergency medical personnel aboard.

No injuries were reported.

“They all had life jackets and stayed with the boat,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Courtney Eastman, a member of the rescue boat crew. “By taking these precautions, it made the rescue go much smoother.”
