Coast Guard continues search for possible survivors of downed aircraft off of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico

7th Coast Guard District NewsSAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard rescue crews aboard surface vessels and helicopters continue searching Monday for possible survivors of a downed aircraft off the southeastern coast of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

The crew aboard a Coast Guard Boat Station San Juan 33-foot Special Purpose Craft recovered a body just off the entrance of Yabucoa Harbor Sunday night and transferred it to awaiting Emergency Medical Services personnel at the Yabucoa Harbor pier.

Coast Guard rescue crews aboard MH-65 Dolphin helicopters, the Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne and Boat Station San Juan response boats are aggressively searching alongside Puerto Rico Emergency Management and Puerto Rico Police rescue crews for survivors and any signs of a possible crash site.
