Coast Guard conducts two medevacs from Catalina Island

CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. — The Coast Guard responded to a call at approximately 2 a.m. July 24 for the medevac of a four-day-old infant from Catalina Island who required medical care.

An HH-65c Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles was launched and transferred the infant safely from Catalina Hospital to Fountain Valley Hospital in Fountain Valley, Calif.

While in the air, a second medevac was requested from Catalina Island for a 14-year-old child who also required medical attention. The Dolphin returned to Catalina Island after completing the first medevac and safely transported the 14-year-old child to Torrance Memorial Hospital in Torrance, Calif.

Both patients arrived at the hospitials in stable condition.
