Coast Guard conducts medical transfer near Neah Bay

SEATTLE — Coast Guard Station Neah Bay, Wash., transferred an injured crewmember from the Navy research-vessel Atlantis Monday morning.

The Thirteenth Coast Guard District communications center, here, received a call from the 274-foot research vessel at approximately 2 p.m., Sunday, requesting a medical transfer of a crewmember. The 29-year old, female fell and suffered lacerations and a possible broken nose.

At the time of the injury the Atlantis was approximately 150-miles west of Neah Bay conducting research operations.

A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Neah Bay met the Atlantis approximately two miles west of Neah Bay at 10:00 a.m., and transferred the crewmember to the local medical clinic in Neah Bay.
